Description

1872-S Ten Dollar, Lustrous AU58
A Rarity This Fine

1872-S $10 AU58 PCGS Secure. Only 17,300 Liberty eagles were struck at San Francisco in 1872, almost all of which circulated extensively. High-end AU survivors are rare, and Mint State coins are virtually uncollectible. This near-Mint example displays sharp detail and retains partial luster in the fields. The original golden surfaces are luminous and appealing, showing only light field chatter instead of unsightly abrasions. Population: 5 in 58, 1 finer (9/18).(Registry values: N2998)

Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 2653, PCGS# 8665, Greysheet# 9476)

Weight: 16.72 grams

Metal: 90% Gold, 10% Copper
