Description
PCGS 1905-S MS 60. This is a rare and formerly underrated date which has recently begun to be appreciated by collectors, due in large part to the write-up given in Akers' book on this denomination. However, only recently (with the advent of population data by the certification services) has the absolute rarity of this issue been truly appreciated. This is the only mint state example certified by PCGS and it has been so recently graded that it does not show up on the January Report. NGC has certified 2 in MS 60 and 1 as MS 61 (12/92). This is a well struck coin with fully lustrous surfaces that are a bit bagmarked as one would expect, but nevertheless, a rare and important coin for the specialist. Trends $3500 (1/25).
