Attractive Choice XF 1839-C Five Dollar
1839-C $5 XF45 NGC. Variety 1. The only Charlotte Liberty half eagle date with an obverse mintmark. Also a single-year design subtype, since the sleepy-eyed bust of Liberty differs slightly from that of subsequent years. This straw-gold Choice XF example has impressive detail within the eagle's wings, although the hair is affected by a typical strike.(Registry values: P5)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25S8, PCGS# 8192, GSID# 8955)
