Description
Interesting 1839-C Half Eagle, Choice XF
Obverse Mintmark Style
1839-C $5 XF45 PCGS. CAC. Variety 1. The obverse mintmark of
this issue adds a curious quaintness, one that associates it in
some collectors' minds with the famous 1838-O (and 1839-O) half
dollars of similar style. Considerable luster remains on this piece
for the Choice XF grade level. and the charming antique-gold
coloration and minor, grade-consistent marks complete the broad
appeal. Population: 14 in 45, 24 finer (2/10).(Registry values: P5)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25S8, PCGS# 8192, GSID# 8955)
