1839-D $5 AU58 NGC. Variety 2-A. This needle-sharp and attractive Borderline Uncirculated piece exhibits ample glowing luster. The surfaces are smooth and clean to the unaided eye, and a few wispy marks near the eagle's head and above the highest arrow head are only when viewed beneath a glass. A stingy production of 18,900 pieces ensures a paucity of high grade survivors. Census: 13 in 58, 5 finer (2/06).(Registry values: P4)
