Description
1840 Half Eagle, MS63
Rare in Mint State
1840 $5 MS63 PCGS. Narrow Mill. Rich lemon-gold color
presides over a pleasing mixture of cartwheel and semi-reflective
luster. Very few design elements are imperfectly defined. A number
of modest abrasions are scattered over the fields and on the
portrait. There are two varieties of 1840 half eagle - Broad Mill,
with a wide rim, and Narrow Mill, with a normal rim. This issue is
quite rare in full Mint State.Ex: FUN Signature (Heritage, 1/2003), lot 8587; Central States Signature (Heritage, 5/2003), lot 7273.(Registry values: P5)
