1840 $5 Narrow Mill AU53 NGC. The 1840 half eagle's mintage of 137,382 pieces is divided among the Narrow Mill and Broad Mill varieties, which are distinguished by the width of the outer rim. Lots of luster radiates from the fields of this yellow-gold example. There is a little weakness on the hair above Liberty's forehead, but the remaining details are sharply defined.
