First Date With Reverse Mintmark
1840-C $5 AU55 PCGS. Variety 2. From a mintage of 18,992
pieces, the 1840-C half eagle is one of the most challenging issues
in the Charlotte Mint series. This Choice AU specimen shows just a
touch of actual wear on the design elements, which display the
usual soft strike for this issue. The lightly abraded orange-gold
surfaces retain most of their original mint luster. Population: 11
