First New Orleans Issue
1840-O $5 AU53 PCGS. CAC. Variety 2. Large O. Although only
40,120 pieces were struck, both Small O and Large O varieties are
known. The 1840-O is the introductory New Orleans issue of the
denomination. This is a well struck apricot-gold example with
surprisingly few marks and a band of luster throughout the reverse
periphery.(Registry values: P6)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25SK, PCGS# 8200, Greysheet# 8960)
