Description
Scarce 1841 Liberty Half Eagle, AU53
1841 $5 AU53 PCGS. Only 15,800 half eagles were coined at the Philadelphia Mint in 1841 and the issue is scarce in all grades. Highly prized by date collectors, some of the cachet of its famous quarter eagle counterpart has rubbed off on the 1841 five. The present coin is well defined, with a scattering of insignificant marks on both sides. Slight, even wear is evident on the high points of the devices. Population: 4 in 53, 24 finer (10/09).(Registry values: P6)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25SN, PCGS# 8202, GSID# 8885)
