1842 $5 Small Letters AU53 PCGS. The two reverse 1842 subtypes divide a low mintage of 27,578 pieces, and AU survivors of either design subtype are very scarce. The present example is well struck save for minor softness on the hair bun, and the only remotely mentionable marks are relegated to the obverse border near star 10. Population: 3 in 53, 4 finer (8/07).(Registry values: P7)
