1842-D $5 Small Date AU50 NGC. Variety 7-E. Peach-red luster fills design crevices of this otherwise olive-gold Dahlonega five. The high points show moderate wear, but the strike is above average for the Georgian facility. Tiny marks are distributed, although none singularly detract. The Small Date variety is overshadowed by its Large Date counterpart, but is also rare in AU or finer grades.
