Rare XF Small D 1843-D Half Eagle

1843-D $5 Small D XF40 PCGS. Variety 10-G. The rarer mintmark variety of the 1843-D half eagle. The Small D is over the V in FIVE, while the more available Medium D variety has the mintmark centered above the VE in FIVE. Luster fills the hair, plumage, and legends of the present XF Dahlonega five. Richly detailed, and the only consequential marks are concealed on the shield and relegated to the field near the AM in AMERICA.(Registry values: P3)
