Description
1843-O Five Dollar, AU50
Large Letters, CAC Approved
1843-O $5 Large Letters AU50 PCGS. CAC. Variety 1. 1843 was
a transitional year for New Orleans half eagles, since the Small
Letters subtype ceded to its Large Letters successor. The latter is
regarded as more available, but any 1843-O five is a rarity with a
CAC seal. This is a pleasing orange-red representative that boasts
considerable remaining luster. There are no obtrusive marks, and
the strike is above average. Population: 18 in 50, 36 finer. CAC: 3
in 50, 18 finer (8/23).Ex: ANA Signature (Heritage, 8/2021), lot 7294.(Registry values: P7)
Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 28BF, PCGS# 8216, Greysheet# 8973)
