1844-C $5 AU53 NGC. Variety 1. Bright luster fills the legends and plumage of this typically abraded sun-gold representative. The strike is bold on the eagle and stars, though the curls show moderate blending. An intermittent die crack extends from the left wingtip through the eagle to the first A in AMERICA. A better Charlotte issue with a production of only 23,631 pieces.(Registry values: P5)
