1844-C $5 XF40 PCGS. Variety 1. This Charlotte Mint five is from a low production of 23,631 pieces, most of which have long since been melted or lost. The present example is pale green-gold and has smooth, minimally marked fields. The eagle is richly defined, while Liberty's hair shows some incompleteness of strike.(Registry values: P5)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25T8, PCGS# 8220, GSID# 8975)
