Delightful Near-Mint 1844-D Five

1844-D $5 AU58 NGC. Variety 11-H. The 1844-D five dollar is usually seen in Extra Fine or About Uncirculated grades, as Mint State specimens are quite rare. Bright yellow surfaces with a slight greenish tint grace both sides of this AU58 example, each of which possesses ample remaining luster. A sharp and even strike is noted on the design features. Small contact marks are visible, especially in the left obverse field. Census: 38 in 58, 20 finer (4/09).(Registry values: P2)
