Description

1844-D Five Dollar, MS61
Spectacular and Reflective Example

1844-D $5 MS61 PCGS. Variety 11-G, showing repunching on the flag of the 1 in the date. The 1844-D is a high-mintage issue for Dahlonega, amounting to 88,900 pieces, and examples in Mint State are available for a price. This is a simply spectacular example for the grade, showing semiprooflike reflectivity over each side, amid vibrant luster and lemon-gold color. Scattered tiny marks on each side that account for the grade appear as no more than light chatter in the fields. Population: 8 in 61, 9 finer (12/13).
