Description
Appealing 1845 Half Eagle, MS62
1845 $5 MS62 NGC. Garrett and Guth (2006) write: "As can be expected from an issue with a fairly large mintage, the 1845 half eagle can be found with relative ease in grades below Mint State." Uncirculated examples, however, are seldom seen and are quite desirable when they come to market. Powerful reflectivity is barely affected by peppered abrasions in the fields. The razor-sharp strike is complemented by pleasing butter-yellow patina. Census: 10 in 62, 14 finer (8/08).(Registry values: P5)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25TB, PCGS# 8223, GSID# 8890)
