Choice AU 1845-D Half Eagle
Popular Dahlonega Type Coin

1845-D $5 AU55 NGC. Variety 12-I. A well struck Dahlonega type coin with pleasantly smooth surfaces and light almond-gold toning. Luster fills the reverse legends and individually outlines the stars. It is possible that some of the '45-D fives were coined from North Carolina-mined gold, since a fire closed the Charlotte Mint that year.
Ex: Baltimore ANA (Heritage, 8/2008), lot 2999, which realized $3,622.50.(Registry values: P2)

Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25TC, PCGS# 8224, Greysheet# 8978)
