Description

1845-D Five Dollar, AU58
Bold Strike

1845-D $5 AU58 PCGS. Winter 13-H. This piece is an engrossing lemon-gold near-Mint Dahlonega type coin that exhibits an unusually crisp strike for the Southern branch facility. A small retinue of abrasions garnishes the coin, though none of them prove overly detrimental to the appeal. The 1845-D issue enjoys a relatively healthy population but is scarce in Mint State as PCGS has seen just 25 examples finer than our current example (3/26).
