Description

1845-D Five Dollar, MS61
Sharp, Ex:
S.S. New York

1845-D $5 MS61 NGC. Variety 13-H. Ex: S.S. New York. The date is low and left in relation to the bust, as usual. This Dahlonega issue is relatively plentiful, suitable for collectors seeking a single coin from this mint. More than 90,000 pieces were struck and they circulated extensively. This Mint State coin comes from the S.S. New York shipwreck. The strike is sharp and the bright yellow-gold surfaces reveal remarkably few abrasions for the grade.
