Description
1845-O Half Eagle, MS62
Single Known Die Pair
1845-O $5 MS62 PCGS. CAC. Variety 1. The only known die
pair, offered here in an early die state with the 18 clearly
repunched, and distinct raised die lines in the narrow space
between the tops of AMERICA and the border. PCGS has only certified
seven Mint State examples of this issue, all in grades of MS61, 62,
and 63. This brilliant yellow-gold example features a good strike
and frosty mint luster. Scattered grade-limiting marks are mostly
visible only with magnification, and fail to diminish the excellent
eye appeal. We have only sold one MS62 example since the beginning
of our Permanent Auction Archives in 1993, and have never sold a
finer piece. Population: 3 in 62, 2 finer. CAC: 2 in 62, 1 finer
(11/16).(Registry values: P7)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25TD, PCGS# 8225, Greysheet# 8979)
Weight: 8.36 grams
Metal: 90% Gold, 10% Copper
