Widely Repunched Mintmark

1846-D/D $5 AU58 NGC. Variety 17-J. The low date variant of the strongly repunched 1846-D/D. Both varieties are equally scarce. This well struck straw-gold near-Mint half eagle displays ample luster and only minimal marks. Minor retained laminations (as made) are near star 2 and behind the lovelock.
