1846-D/D $5 AU58 PCGS. Variety 15-L, over D mintmark. The D/D is so clearly double punched that it has long been recognized by specialists as well as the major grading services as a separate variety. This lovely coin has sharp details for a Dahlonega Mint product, with only light wear on the devices. Some prooflike luster still surrounds the devices. The surfaces have fewer abrasions than expected for the grade, however, a diagonal mark under the final S of STATES is mentioned for pedigree purposes.
