Description

1846-D/D Half Eagle, AU58
Outstanding Example, Grade Rarity

1846-D/D $5 AU58 PCGS. Winter 16-J. Nice orange-gold coloration with copper highlights. Scattered abrasions, and a thin scratch on the cheek of Liberty, but the overall appeal is excellent on this sharply struck example. The variety is rare in this grade, with a total population in AU58 of 41, and just 25 finer (1/25). The 1846 D/D half eagle is a popular variety because the D/D can be clearly seen with the naked eye.(Registry values: P3)
