Description

1846-D/D Half Eagle, AU58
Very Little Wear Present

1846-D/D $5 AU58 PCGS. Winter 17-J. This is one of two varieties for the 1846-D half eagle that employ the reverse with the boldly repunched D mintmark. The current near-Mint example displays sharp definition and deep antique-gold patina with daubs of amber in the obverse prime focal areas. Only slight handling rub prevents Mint State classification, and there are no significant abrasions. Population: 15 in 58, 16 finer (12/24).(Registry values: P3)
