Description

Challenging 1847 Half Eagle, MS63

1847 $5 MS63 NGC. The 1847 half eagle is relatively common in circulated grades, but becomes a more challenging issue in Mint State, especially MS63 and above. The present coin displays attractive brass-gold surfaces and bright luster. The design elements are well impressed, and exhibit excellent definition in the star centrils and the eagle's feathers. A handful of light scuffs define the grade. Census: 29 in 63, 10 finer (7/10).(Registry values: P5)
