Description

Resplendent 1847 Half Eagle, MS63

1847 $5 MS63 PCGS. The Philadelphia Mint coined over 900,000 half eagles in 1847, and the date remains plentiful to this day. However, Select MS63 specimens are highly elusive and desirable, as the population figures reveal. This highly lustrous yellow-gold piece has exceptional design details and pristine surfaces that harbor few abrasions on either side. The fields are reflective and the devices are frosty, enhancing its aesthetic desirability. Population: 22 in 63, 5 finer (6/09).(Registry values: P5)

Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25TL, PCGS# 8231, Greysheet# 8893)

Weight: 8.36 grams
