Description
1847 Five Dollar, MS64+
Among the Finest at NGC
High-Grade No Motto Type Coin
1847 $5 MS64+ NGC. With a mintage of 915,981 coins, the 1847
Philadelphia Mint half eagle is widely regarded as a collectible
type coin issue. That is true in most grades through MS63, but it
becomes conditionally rare at the near-Gem level. This Plus-graded
Choice Uncirculated representative ranks among the finest
submissions at NGC. It enjoys radiant mint frost, glowing
orange-gold color, and a razor-sharp impression. There is just a
hint of softness on the lower curl and the eagle's neck feathers,
and trivial chatter on each side. Census: 16 in 64 (4 in 64+, 1 in
64+★ ), 0 finer (9/19).(Registry values: P5)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25TL, PCGS# 8231, Greysheet# 8893)
Weight: 8.36 grams
Metal: 90% Gold, 10% Copper
