1847-C $5 --Improperly Cleaned, Rim Damage--NGC. VF Details. Variety 1, the only known dies despite a profligate (by Charlotte Mint standards) mintage of 84,151 pieces. Small rim nicks are noted at 12 o'clock on the obverse and at 10 o'clock on the reverse. Moderately bright from a past wipe.
