1847-O Half Eagle, Unc Details
Conditionally Rare

1847-O $5 -- Cleaned -- NGC Details. Unc. Variety 1. Only one variety is recorded for this issue, showing the date far left and the mintmark low. From a mintage of just 12,000 pieces, this 1847-O half eagle is unworn, and only a light cleaning keeps it from receiving a numeric classification at NGC. Satiny honey-gold luster covers each side, and only light abrasions are seen. Slight strike softness is noted only on the upper right portion of the shield. PCGS estimates a survivorship of only 50 to 60 coins in all grades, and just three problem-free pieces are reported in Mint State numeric grades (1/21).

Note for clients in the European Union: This lot is considered by the European Union to be “investment gold”. We believe that it meets the criteria established in Article 344(1), point (2) of Council Directive 2006/112/EC and thus should be exempt from import VAT regardless of the selling price. Any questions or concerns about VAT should be addressed to your accountant or local tax authority.
