Description
1847-O Liberty Five, XF45
Rarest O-Mint Half Eagle
1847-O $5 XF45 ANACS. Variety 1. The 1847-O is the rarest
Liberty half eagle from the New Orleans Mint, with a minuscule
mintage of just 12,000 pieces. Probably no more than 40-50 coins
survive today in all grades. This Choice XF example shows light
wear on the high points of the design elements and the
greenish-gold surfaces retain much original mint luster. The
surfaces show a few minor abrasions, the worst being a pair of
nicks in the left obverse field, near the chin.(Registry values: P8)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25TR, PCGS# 8235, Greysheet# 8987)
