Description

1848 Five Dollar, MS62
Rare in Mint State

1848 $5 MS62 PCGS. Half eagles were stuck to the extent of 260,775 pieces in 1848, one of the larger productions of the period, although that total was much smaller than the previous year's output. When found, the issue is apt to grade between AU50 and AU53. Mint State coins are rare. This bright yellow-gold example displays strong definition on the relief elements. Wispy lines and scattered abrasions limit the grade. Population: 8 in 62, 7 finer (12/17).(Registry values: P5)

Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25TS, PCGS# 8236, Greysheet# 8894)

Weight: 8.36 grams

Metal: 90% Gold, 10% Copper
