Description

1849-C Half Eagle, AU53
Popular Charlotte Mint Type Coin

1849-C $5 AU53 PCGS. Winter-1. Die State II. Alluring honey-gold luster graces this specimen with deeper honeycomb-orange patina. There are some minor strike weaknesses along the hair as well as the left (facing) leg of the eagle. There is a cacophony of minor abrasions, but none prove detrimental to the eye appeal. While all Charlotte Mint gold is scarce in the context of Liberty half eagles, the 1849-C is among the more available issues, this coin representing an intriguing acquisition for branch mint type collectors. PCGS Population: 27 in 53, 57 finer (4/26).
