    Description

1849-C $5 XF40 PCGS. Variety 1. Die State II. Better struck than many southern gold issues, the stars and dentils are crisp and striking weakness is limited to the curl below the ear and the eagle's right leg and adjacent arrow feathers. Each side is bathed in apricot-gold patination with reddish accents. A few minute, inoffensive marks are scattered over each side.
