Description

1849-C Half Eagle, XF45
Rare in Mint State, CAC

1849-C $5 XF45 PCGS. CAC. Winter-2. The upright of the 4 is centered between two dentils, and vertical die lines show behind Liberty's neck. The scarcer of the two die marriages for this Charlotte type issue, examples in XF45 are in demand as PCGS lists only 16 pieces in Mint State (5/25). Original pumpkin-orange luster fills design recesses while the open fields and motifs are wheat-gold. There are no noticeable marks on this charming Liberty five and CAC has approved.
