Description
Well-Detailed 1849-D Five Dollar, Unc Details
1849-D $5 --Improperly Cleaned--NGC. Unc Details. Variety 22-L. The 1849-D is one of the more available D-mint fives, primarily because of the large (relatively speaking) mintage of 39,036 pieces. However, high grade examples are rarely seen, even when cleaned and in high grade such as seen on this piece. The striking details are strong, except for the central hair curls of Liberty and the fletchings of the upper arrow. The surfaces are exceptionally free from abrasions.(Registry values: P3)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25TX, PCGS# 8242, GSID# 8992)
