Scarce AU55 1851-D Five Dollars
1851-D $5 AU55 NGC. Variety 26-R. Pumpkin-gold hues visit this otherwise straw-gold Dahlonega half eagle. The fields and devices lack identifiable marks, and present a smooth, subdued appearance. A few specks of dark debris cling to protected areas of the reverse. A typical strike in the centers, although the right borders are boldly struck. Census: 21 in 55, 25 finer (2/06).(Registry values: P3)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25U7, PCGS# 8248, Greysheet# 8998)
