Description
1851-D Half Eagle, XF45
Strong D, Original Surfaces
1851-D $5 Strong D XF45 PCGS. CAC. Variety 31-W. Ex: The
Fairmont Collection. Four die pairs exist for the 1851-D despite
its low mintage of 62,710 pieces. On Variety 31-W, the first 1 in
the date is repunched, and the Dahlonega mintmark leans right. This
CAC-approved representative has a typical strike for the Georgian
facility, but marks are minor and the rose-gold toning is
original.(Registry values: P3)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25U7, PCGS# 8248, Greysheet# 8998)
