Description

Lovely 1852-C Half Eagle, AU50

1852-C $5 AU50 NGC. Variety 18-H. The 1 in the date is nearly merged with the bust. Though the 1852-C is one of the more available half eagles from Charlotte, finding attractive pieces with an aura of originality becomes harder with time. The lightly circulated example offered here has dusky orange-gold surfaces with luminous peripheries. The fields show a few scattered abrasions and the central devices exhibit typical softness, but the coin retains excellent overall visual appeal. A strong candidate for the collector of branch mint gold.(Registry values: P3)
