Description

1853 Liberty Half Eagle, MS63
Very Rare Any Finer

1853 $5 MS63 NGC. The 1853 Liberty half eagle claims a substantial mintage of 305,770 pieces but few examples were saved by contemporary collectors and the date is quite rare in Mint State condition. This impressive Select example offers sharply detailed design elements, with some interesting die cracks connecting the stars on the left. The orange-gold surfaces retain much original mint luster and show some minor signs of contact. Census: 5 in 63, 6 finer (3/15).(Registry values: P4)

Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25UD, PCGS# 8253, Greysheet# 8899)
