Description
1853 Half Eagle, MS63
Fantastic Appeal, Finer Pieces are Rare
1853 $5 MS63 PCGS. A bold strike and minimal abrasions
facilitate frosty, coruscating luster in delivering exceptional
cartwheel bands and eye appeal on this Select Uncirculated five
dollar gold piece. Vibrant orange-gold surfaces reveal a small line
in front of the eagle's beak and only one minor graze on the bottom
right side of Liberty's neck, otherwise this piece is free of
noticeable imperfections. The issue has availability in circulated
grades, yet becomes noticeably scarce in Mint State, and PCGS and
NGC combined reflect only eight finer than this exceptional half
eagle (3/25). Population: 11 in 63 (1 in 63+), 5 finer
(3/25).(Registry values: P4)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25UD, PCGS# 8253, Greysheet# 8899)
Weight: 8.36 grams
Metal: 90% Gold, 10% Copper
