Desirable MS62 1853-C Half Eagle
1853-C $5 MS62 NGC. Variety 1. This higher-mintage issue is immensely popular with Southern gold type collectors on account of its availability, but in Mint State levels, the 1853-C half eagle becomes a condition rarity like its fellows. This bright sun-gold example is crisply struck with a minimally marked obverse. On the reverse, wispy abrasions and a few more significant flaws contribute to the grade.
