1853-D $5 AU58 PCGS. Winter 34-Y. Large D. The 1853-D half
eagle is among the healthiest mintages (89,678 pieces) from the
Dahlonega Mint, with a survivorship estimate between 650-750 by
Doug Winter. This well-struck example shows marigold luster. There
are some light marks, but none are overly detracting from the
appeal. The present piece represents an ideal opportunity to obtain
