Desirable 1853-D Large D Half Eagle, AU53
1853-D $5 Large D AU53 NGC. Variety 29-V. The mintmark is large and clear of the nearby devices. The 1853-D is very desirable as a type coin from this popular Southern mint. Peach-gold surfaces display whispers of light greenish-tan and are well struck, except for the often-seen weakness in the first three or four stars. A few scattered marks are unimportant.(Registry values: P1)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25UF, PCGS# 8255, GSID# 9004)
