1853-D Five Dollar, AU53
A Bright, Well-Struck D-Mint Type Coin
1853-D $5 Large D AU53 PCGS. Variety 29-V. This Large D coin
is part of the most frequently encountered of all Dahlonega fives.
Starting with a mintage of 89,678 pieces, it is estimated that 275
to 325 (or more) examples are known today. Most are in VF-XF
condition, but AU and even Mint State pieces are occasionally
encountered for the type collector. This bright yellow-gold coin
has slightly reflective fields and minimal abrasions, except for a
few light field marks to the right of the eagle's right (facing)
wing. Well struck overall.From The Old Holder Collection.(Registry values: P1)
