1854-D $5 Large D AU55 PCGS. CAC. Variety 36-AA. Ex: D.L. Hansen Collection. A charming pumpkin-gold Choice AU half eagle from the legendary Dahlonega Mint. Unlike so many examples seen, the present piece is devoid of noticeable marks. Luster fills the legends and individually outlines the stars. The strike is a bit soft on the fletchings and lovelock though the rest of the devices are crisp. Population: 30 in 55, 79 finer. CAC: 9 in 55, 16 finer (3/24).
