1854-D Half Eagle, Near-Mint
Large D Mintmark
1854-D $5 Large D AU58 PCGS. Variety 36-AA. Despite a low
mintage of 56,413 pieces, four die marriages are known for the
1854-D. Variety 36-AA features a deeply entered mintmark with a
lightly repunched base. A well struck and beautiful orange-gold
Borderline Uncirculated example. Marks are absent although a
lamination affects Liberty's forehead and the field near the
profile. Population: 31 in 58, 24 finer (12/15).(Registry values: P2)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25UK, PCGS# 8258, Greysheet# 9008)
