1854-D Medium D Half Eagle, AU50
Rarely Offered With Original Color
1854-D $5 Medium D AU50 PCGS. CAC. Variety 37-CC. The 1854-D
may be the most available half eagle manufactured at the Georgia
branch mint, but AU examples with original surfaces are rarely
found. Winter adds: "Uncleaned, original examples can show some of
the most appealing coloration seen on any Dahlonega half eagles."
Such is the case here, with lovely orange and greenish-gold hues
over minimally circulated and lightly abraded surfaces. Uniformly
sharp devices enhance the appeal. Population: 2 in 50, 8 finer.
